Stately and regal late 18th century neoclassical commode of rosewood. Inlays of tulip and birch are present along with the magnificent rosewood. Secondary woods of pine and walnut. Having masterfully inlaid marquetry work throughout, the simple yet dazzling geometric patterns chosen for the unique commode give it an allure that is most captivating. This commode has seen little restoration throughout it's long life. A replaced thin outer band along the outer edge of the top. Added, early 19th century bronze sabots on all four tapered legs. The bottom right hoop pull has recently been replaced with a sand cast replica from it's left side counter-part. Chest is French polished and is sturdy, strong and ready for everyday use. Most likely Austrian, Northern Italian.
